About Binance USD
BUSD is a 1:1 USD-backed stablecoin that was approved by the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). Originally issued by Paxos in partnership with Binance, it was designed as a digital fiat currency existing primarily as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum and supporting BEP-2. In February 2023, Paxos ceased the minting of new BUSD tokens following regulatory guidance, initiating a multi-year wind-down period. The asset remains redeemable for USD or convertible to Paxos Dollar (USDP) through Paxos. While natively issued on Ethereum, it has been bridged to various networks including BNB Chain and Linea.
