About Arbitrum
Arbitrum (ARB) is the native ERC-20 governance token for the Arbitrum ecosystem, a prominent Ethereum Layer 2 scaling solution. Launched in March 2023 by Offchain Labs, the ARB token enables holders to participate in the Arbitrum DAO's on-chain governance, allowing them to vote on protocol upgrades, fund allocations, and the election of the Security Council. The Arbitrum network utilizes optimistic rollup technology to provide high-throughput and low-cost transactions by processing computation and storage off-chain while maintaining Ethereum's security. As the primary coordination mechanism for the decentralized governance structure, ARB allows the community to direct the development of one of the largest Layer 2 ecosystems by total value locked (TVL).
