About Bitcoin Gold
Bitcoin Gold (BTG) is a cryptocurrency that emerged as a hard fork of the Bitcoin blockchain in October 2017. It was created with the primary goal of decentralizing the mining process by adopting the Equihash-BTG proof-of-work algorithm, which is resistant to specialized ASIC mining hardware. This allows ordinary users to mine the asset using common GPUs, promoting a more equitable distribution of the network's hash power. As a fork, it implemented full replay protection and unique wallet addresses to ensure the safety of the ecosystem for users who held Bitcoin at the time of the snapshot.
