About SKY
SKY is the primary governance token for the Sky Protocol, serving as the upgraded and rebranded successor to the Maker (MKR) token. Launched in 2024 as part of the 'Endgame' transition from the Maker Protocol, SKY functions as a digital voting share that allows holders to participate in decentralized governance, managing system parameters and protocol changes. Within the ecosystem, SKY can be staked in the Sky Staking Engine to secure the network and earn rewards, including the ability to borrow the USDS stablecoin. The protocol focuses on providing a non-custodial system for saving, trading, and earning yield through features such as the Sky Savings Rate (SSR) and SkyLink, which facilitates seamless cross-chain fund transfers.
