About Uniswap
UNI is the governance token for Uniswap, a decentralized cryptocurrency exchange protocol that utilizes an Automated Market Maker (AMM) model to facilitate the automated trading of digital assets. Launched in September 2020, the UNI token empowers holders to participate in protocol governance, including decisions regarding the community treasury, future upgrades, and the implementation of fee switch mechanisms. As a central asset in the DeFi ecosystem, UNI is used to coordinate incentives and facilitate decentralized decision-making across the Uniswap protocol, which operates on multiple networks including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, and its own Unichain layer.
