About Internet Computer
ICP is the native utility and governance token of the Internet Computer, a decentralized cloud blockchain designed to run applications, websites, and backend systems fully on-chain. The token serves two primary functions: it is burned to create 'cycles' which power computation and storage for smart contracts (canisters), and it is staked to participate in the network's governance through the Network Nervous System (NNS). The Internet Computer architecture supports multi-chain interoperability, allowing smart contracts to interact directly with other blockchains like Bitcoin and Ethereum without centralized intermediaries.
