About TRON
TRX (Tronix) is the native utility token of the TRON network, a decentralized blockchain-based operating system launched in 2017 by the TRON Foundation. Originally an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, TRX migrated to its own independent network in 2018. The protocol utilizes a Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, where token holders elect 27 Super Representatives to validate transactions and maintain the ledger. TRX is used to power transactions, pay for network services, and participate in governance. The network is designed for high throughput and scalability, supporting decentralized applications (DApps) and smart contracts with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility. TRON serves as a global settlement layer for stablecoins and digital content, further expanding its ecosystem through the acquisition of BitTorrent and the establishment of the TRON DAO.
