About Livepeer
Livepeer (LPT) is the native protocol token of the Livepeer network, a decentralized live video streaming infrastructure built on the Ethereum blockchain. As a staking token, LPT is used to coordinate work distribution, incentivize participants (transcoders and delegators), and secure the network through a delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS) mechanism. While broadcasters pay for services in ETH, LPT serves as the bonding mechanism that ensures work is performed honestly and correctly within the ecosystem's decentralized media layer.
