About Cronos
Cronos (CRO) is the native utility and governance token of the Cronos ecosystem, an institutional-grade, high-performance network that includes the Cronos EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain, the Cronos POS chain, and Cronos zkEVM. Built on the Cosmos SDK and utilizing the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol, CRO is designed as the backbone for open, compliant, and AI-accessible tokenized markets. Originally launched as Crypto.com Chain, it powers transactions, decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, and payment services. The token is used for network fees, staking for security via Proof of Authority consensus, and as a primary medium of exchange across the Crypto.com and Cronos ecosystems. It supports up to 60,000 transactions per second (TPS) with instant finality and low-cost transaction fees.
