About Curve DAO

Curve DAO Token (CRV) is the native governance and utility token of Curve Finance, a decentralized exchange (DEX) and automated market maker (AMM) specialized in efficient, low-slippage swaps between assets of similar value, such as stablecoins (DAI, USDT, USDC) and wrapped assets (wBTC, renBTC). Launched in August 2020, CRV is used to incentivize liquidity providers through emission rewards and enables holders to participate in the Curve DAO. By locking CRV, users receive vote-escrowed CRV (veCRV), which grants voting rights on protocol upgrades, fee distributions, and the weighting of rewards across different liquidity pools (gauges). The protocol also supports yield-bearing tokens, potentially providing liquidity providers with multiple yield sources including swap fees and yield farming rewards.
