About renBTC
renBTC is a decentralized, 1:1 Bitcoin-backed token minted through the RenVM protocol. When Bitcoin is held in the custody of RenVM, a corresponding amount of renBTC is issued as a token on various networks including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, and Harmony. This enables BTC liquidity to be used across decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystems for activities such as swapping, lending, and collateralization. As a tokenized version of Bitcoin, renBTC allows users to bridge their BTC to smart-contract platforms while maintaining a price peg to the underlying asset.
