About Monero
Monero (XMR) is a privacy-focused, decentralized cryptocurrency built on a blockchain designed to be untraceable and fungible. Launched in 2014 as a fork of Bytecoin, it utilizes the CryptoNote protocol and the RandomX hashing algorithm to ensure user anonymity by default. Unlike many other blockchains, Monero hides sender, receiver, and transaction amounts through technologies such as ring signatures, stealth addresses, and RingCT. It operates as a Layer 1 (L1) Proof of Work (PoW) network where privacy is not optional but inherent to every transaction on the network.
