Myriad (XMY) is a multi-algorithm Proof-of-Work cryptocurrency launched on February 23, 2014. It is notable for being the first coin to implement five distinct hashing algorithms simultaneously: Scrypt, SHA256D, Qubit, Skein, and Groestl. This multi-algo design aims to enhance decentralization and mining fairness by allowing various hardware types—including CPUs, GPUs, and ASICs—to participate. Each algorithm has an independent difficulty adjustment and targets a block time of 2.5 minutes, resulting in an average network block time of 30 seconds. XMY serves as the native token for transaction fees, miner rewards, and peer-to-peer payments within its ecosystem.
