About ZetaChain
ZETA is the native utility and governance token of ZetaChain, a Proof of Stake (PoS) Layer 1 blockchain built using the Cosmos SDK and Tendermint consensus. It is designed as a universal interoperability platform that enables omnichain smart contracts and cross-chain messaging across diverse networks, including non-smart contract chains like Bitcoin and Dogecoin. Within the ecosystem, ZETA is used for network gas fees, securing the chain through staking, and facilitating cross-chain value transfers. Recently, ZetaChain has expanded to include an AI interoperability stack, featuring an AI Portal for cross-model routing and a Private Memory Layer for encrypted user context. Note: ZETA (ZetaChain) is distinct from the ZEX token used for the Zeta Markets decentralized exchange.
