About Aptos
APT is the native utility and governance token of the Aptos network, a high-performance Layer 1 Proof-of-Stake (PoS) blockchain. It is used to pay for transaction fees, participate in governance voting, and secure the network through staking. Aptos utilizes the Move programming language and Move Virtual Machine (Move VM), designed for safety and scalability to support high transaction throughput and rapid decentralized application development. The project was founded by former developers and researchers from Diem (Meta's blockchain project) and is supported by a large ecosystem of prominent venture firms and partnerships.
