LINEA is the native utility and governance token for Linea, an Ethereum-equivalent zkEVM Layer 2 scaling solution developed by Consensys. Designed to strengthen the Ethereum economy, the token is integral to a unique dual-token burn mechanism where transaction gas simultaneously burns both ETH and LINEA (in a 1:4 ratio) to reinforce Ethereum's monetary policy. It facilitates native yield for bridged ETH to incentivize liquidity and supports a decentralized ecosystem through a community-focused distribution model. Governance of the network and its ecosystem fund is managed by a consortium of prominent Ethereum builders, including Consensys, Eigen Labs, and ENS. The asset serves as the foundational utility for institutional-grade infrastructure and DeFi applications within the Linea network.
